Calling all Buses.. 'Barn Door camp out' is coming to the Apex Festival.. and it may just be a record breaking line up!

This year Apex Festival have pleasure in hosting the infamous ‘Barn Door Camp Out’ organised by Mr Rikki James whom will be joining forces with Cool Flo Vintage, Airmighty and Hayburner to make this one very special event. It will be held over the weekend of 18-19th May 2013 (With camping on Friday 17th too) at the Lydden Hill Race Circuit in Kent… which is only 10-15mins drive from Dover Ferry Port, which is just as well as our good friends AirMighty & Cool Flo Vintage will be organising a European Cruise over to the show and we look forward to giving our international visitors a big warm welcome from the UK scene.

There is a huge attempt going on to gather as many Barndoor & split screen buses as possible at the event from all over Europe & the UK and of course anything VW related too !! To add a unique twist to the campout weekender, everyone will be able to participate in parade laps around the Race Circuit itself! We have photographers and film makers lined up so it's a chance to be have those fun moments captured on film as you circumnavigate the track with some great photo opportunities!

We have a special Barndoor and Split Bus line up organised for Saturday………..and we are currently working with Cool Flo on the possibility of a Bus drive in movie too at the event.......they will showing ‘The Bus Movie’ on Saturday evening on the BIG screen, an all time classic by Damon Ristau in the states. There will be LOADS more going on at the Apex Festival throughout our Campout.. check it out on www.apexfestival.co.uk it's family friendly (and yep that includes our four legged friends.. usual etiquette rules apply!) and there will be lots for the young ones to do for FREE

So if you want to be part of something very different whether it be cruising the Lydden Hill circuit with loads of buses, cracking a beer chilling in the bus while you watch a movie with friends on the BIG screen, head for our Barndoor Campout at the Apex Festival in May for a fantastic weekender!! - but the fun doesn't have to stop there.. this will be a fantastic warm up for Airmighty’s Barndoor and vintage VW meet in Amersfoort, Netherlands in 2014 (www.Benpon.nl ) and guess what.. it'll be our turn to organise a huge UK cruise to the event :)

About the Apex Festival

A unique festival of Show n' Go Go Go!
This is not a static show! The Lydden Hill Race Circuit will once again be the focal point for the events and entertainment over the weekend, where YOU can be part of the on track spectacle! With our Aircooled and Watercooled VAG friends mixing it up on the circuit with an eclectic smorgasbord of retro rides and race cars.

We're proud to present a truly family friendly event, kids under 16 go absolutely FREE (with a paying adult - max 3 kids per adult - no ticket needed) you can bring your dogs (The typical pet etiquette rules apply) and the vast majority of kids activities are 100% FREE all weekend - families loved the fact that the kids zone was ideally placed so you could keep one eye on the kids and the other on all the action.. so it was smiles all round! This year we will have even more FREE fun activities and welcome distractions for our young guests. We will again have a quiet camping area for families, situated right next to the Kids Zone.

All the catering will be independents for all you ‘foodies’ who like great quality grub, ranging from artisan organic foods to the hugely popular Mash Bang Dollop, Wood Fired Pizza's, Chilli Gone Barmy, Chompin Churros, A La Margarida, Westlands BBQ, Monkshood Coffee and the Lydden Cafe.. hosted along side locally brewed beers and ciders.

If you haven’t been to Lydden Hill before, you are in for a visual and aural treat! There are spectacular views of the entire circuit from virtually everywhere in the venue. You have the chance to park around the perimeter of the track itself too, so not to miss a moment of the action!

Saturday will be 'RACE DAY'
- featuring full blown championship and trophy races including the Beetle Challenge, Single Seater Formula Vee’s, and assorted VAG/Retro classes! Wheel-to-wheel dogfights and arch rubbing antics, which will have the grandstand spectators on the edge of their seats! (last year saw bugs engulfed in flames and more than a little swopping of paint in the corners!)

In between races there will be on-track demonstrations from many cars you might have seen at static events, adding to the massive visual and aural experience and of course the uber popular FREE circuit parades, where YOU get the chance to drive around the circuit. The more spirited owners can enter TrackDay Sessions  – from just £20 per 15min session! (Don’t forget your drivers license! We can sort a helmet out for you if needed!)

The show areas will feature cars and club displays, in addition, some of the biggest ‘movers and shakers’ in the resto/retro/race/modified VW and VAG arenas will be trading and exhibiting show cars both on and off the track. Bring a camera as the kids loved the friendly atmosphere of the open paddocks, getting the chance to sit behind the wheel of a real race car, you might even be able to bag a race pace passenger ride!

Saturday night will see the big party, which will roll into a silent disco so we can party late!

Sunday will be 'SHOW N' GO DAY'
– The morning will see the Show ‘n Shine open at 10am.

From Midday till 6pm we will have race car features, track demonstrations, and lots more trackday sessions.. a common thread of feedback from last year was that you would love to get out on the circuit in some of your fast street motors alongside some of the race cars.. so that is exactly what we will do! You can book a single trackday session (£20 for 15min) – buy two get a third session FREE, and a handful of sessions will be available for dedicated club/group bookings (£350 for 15mins and up to 24 vehicles) – Terms and conditions apply to all trackday sessions
